Tomorrow, we have several things going on.
The Third Grade Spelling Bee is at 9 A.M. in the gym. Feel free to come join us as we cheer on Abbey, Sammy, and Kara. All families are welcome!
Friday is also our PJ service project day. All students can wear their PJ's to school if they donate 50 cents or bring in a pair of NEW children's pajamas to donate. Please do NOT let your child bring in stuffed animals or blankets. The students may bring slippers to change into at school. They will need tennis shoes for PE.
Friday night at 6:30 P.M. is the Gotsch Choir Concert at Affton High School. Please go out and support our choir students!!
If you have any questions please let me know!

Field Trip
Tomorrow we will be going to the Challenger Learning Center. We will leave school at 10:30. The students all need to bring a sack lunch with them. Please pack a drink that can be thrown away (and is NOT in a glass bottle). If you can also pack the lunch in a bag that can be thrown away we would greatly appreciate it.

Multiplication
Our class is working hard to learn our multiplication facts. Each day the students will take a timed test on a set of facts they are working on. The students are working to earn an Ice Cream Party. For each set of facts they pass they can earn scoops of ice cream and toppings. Click here to see the list.
A great website you can use to practice at home is www.multiplication.com. On this website, the students pick a game they would like to do, then they can select which facts they are working on.

Halloween Party
Halloween Party Info
Tomorrow is our Halloween Party and parade. The parade will begin at 10:00, and will be
followed immediately by the party. We
would love to have anyone come and help out.
I would recommend trying to get here a little before 10 because parking
will be crowded.
The students are not to wear their costumes to
school. They need to bring them in a bag
and change. As previously stated in a
letter from Mr. Smith, the costumes must follow the school dress code (no
spaghetti straps or bare stomachs). The
students are not allowed to bring toy weapons, or have violent costumes. If your child’s costume requires their hair
and makeup to be done, please do that at home before school.
Tomorrow is an early dismissal day (11:40 A.M.). No lunch will be served. If your child is going home on a different
bus, or in a different way, please send a note to school.
If you have any questions
please let us know!

WIN Time (Daily 5)
We have spent the last few weeks learning the routines, procedures, and expectations for the 5 choices during WIN time.
WIN time is a literacy structure in which the students are participating independently in reading and writing, activities.
Here are some pictures from WIN time.
Each morning when the students come in, they chose their activities for WIN time.
Read to Self- Students read a just right book independently.

Read to Someone - Students read with a partner using one of three methods: check for understanding, I read you read, or read two books.

Work on Writing - Students can write stories, letters, songs, or poems.

Word Work - Students practice their spelling words using a variety of fun activities
Listen to Reading - Students listen to Tumble books on the computers to help improve their fluency. It is important for students to hear what fluent reading sounds like, so that they can model their own reading after it.
